Propane

Natural Gas is not available in Golden Valley, which may actually be a blessing as what Natural Gas there is in Mohave County is yet another Division of Citizens Utility which already control our electricity and telephone. Getting propane in Golden Valley was easy compared to some of the other utilities. There are a number of providers in the area and we chose the one who advertised in the local paper and was recommended by folks we asked.

We had to pay a deposit (of course), and wait a few days, but then Ferrellgas delivered our tank and set it up on a cement pad which they provided. There are a number of options to choose from as far as re-fills go.....you can call them when you want a delivery or they will schedule regular fill-ups, etc.

It was when the propane was delivered and the technician was checking our lines, etc. that we found out that our mobile home was set up for natural gas rather than propane. (No, they are not the same.) This meant that we had to buy conversion kits and change the dryer, the furnace, oven and range top. The hot water heater could not be converted and the range top fell apart during the conversion process.....so these had to be replaced. More surprises....more expense.....another trip to Las Vegas. Oh well. If we ever buy another used mobile home, we'll know to ask about the gas.
