SPEAKERS
Speakers are added to a computer system when a sound card is added. And the better your sound card is, the better your speakers should (or could) be.
Because your CD-ROM drive will play audio CDs, and the sound comes out your speakers, it's entirely possible to make your computer rival your stereo as a sound system - IF you want to spend the money.
On the other hand, a decent set of headphones is a lot cheaper than an expensive sound system and can dramatically improve the sound coming out of your computer. Or you can run a cable from the speaker-out-jack of your sound card to the line-in-jack of your stereo and have the best of both worlds.
