Walt Disney's movies (and later TV show) had an big effect on the movie industry and on almost every child born after 1930.

My mother absolutely loved "Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs" and instilled that love into my sister and me. The movie had been released in 1937 so I probably saw it first when I was very young. I remember seeing it later as a young adult and was amazed at how scary it was!
Here's an external link to the soundtrack lyrics.
Songs made famous in the movie include I'm Wishing ;
Whistle While You Work ;
Heigh-Ho ; and
Some Day My Prince Will Come .
Just in case you've forgotten, they are, from the top:
Sneezy and Happy,
Sleepy and Grumpy,
Dopey, Doc, and, Bashful
Cinderella was a favorite, not so much for the main story as for the animal characters, Gus and Jaq, the mice; a dog named Bruno; and the stepmother's cat, Lucifer. As the Fairy Godmother casts her spell, allowing Cinderella to go to the ball, she makes the mice into horses, Bruno into a footman, the horse into a coachman, and the pumpkin into the coach. The sequence where the mice and the birds are putting together Cinderella's ballgown is just magical!
Songs from this movie include
A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes ; and
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo .
Song of the South featured the song Zip-a-dee-doo-dah . The movie tells the story of Uncle Remus drawing upon his tales of Brer Rabbit to help little Johnny deal with his confusion over his parents' separation as well as his new life on the plantation. The tales: The Briar Patch, The Tar Baby and Brer Rabbit's Laughing place. In today's world of political correctness and racial sensitivity, it's hard to find Uncle Remus' tales anymore. For more about the controversy, see this website.
Peter Pan is another movie I really liked. I still look at the "third star from the moon" on clear nights... we get lots of clear nights in Arizona! And I never, ever think of Wonderland as any place other than where J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan lives. (P.S. If you're a Peter Pan fan, you must read Barrie's book...it's an absolute delight!)
Songs from Peter Pan include You Can Fly and I Won't Grow Up.
Pinocchio is another one of those movies in which all the other characters tell the story and are equally memorable to the lead character. There's Gepetto, the woodcarver; Jiminy Cricket (Pinocchio's fairy-appointed conscience); the Blue Fairy; Figaro, the cat; Cleo, the goldfish; J. Worthington Foulfellow, also known as "Honest John"; Gideon, the cat who is Foulfellow's silent partner; Stromboli, owner of a marionette show; The Coachman who runs Pleasure Island where boys are turned into donkeys; Monstro, the giant whale who swallows Gipetto, Figaro, and Cleo; and Lampwick and Alexander, little boys who are friends of Pinocchio on Pleasure Island.
Songs from Pinocchio include When You Wish Upon a Star , I've Got No Strings , and An Actor's Life For Me
Mary Poppins is the only non-animated Disney movie I'm going to include. Starring Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews, it was released in 1964. Songs from the movie include: Chim Chimery, Supercalifragilistic..., and A Spoonful of Sugar.
Other animated Disney movies from my youth which are not particularly known for their music include:
And more modern Disney movies which I missed completely include Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, Lion King, and Pocohantas.
Thanks, Walt, and thanks to all the folks at Disney, for bringing so much joy into my life!
